HOD Message"Engineering is not merely knowing and being knowledgeable, like a walking encyclopedia; not merely analysis; not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to problems; engineering is practicing the art of the organized forcing of technological change... Engineers operate at the interface between science and society...." Electronics and communication engineering is a dynamic and exciting area that provides excellent career opportunities in various sectors of the society. We are committed to give our students an environment where they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they advance through the programme. In addition to classroom teaching, the students are guided and motivated to practically implement the principles learnt in classrooms through experimentations in the laboratories which help students gain confidence and become skilled engineering professionals. Ms. Harjeet Kaur(HOD ECE) Academics The core curriculum lays emphasis on understanding the basic electronics principles, semiconductor technology, power electronics, microwave engineering, microprocessor, analog communication systems and integrated circuits, VLSI technology, satellite communication and signal processing. All labs of the department are well equipped with advanced equipments and latest versions of software like MATLAB, PICEPISE, ORCAD and VHDL etc. Labs of DepartmentBasic & Advance Electronics Lab:- Electronics Lab mainly deals with Electronics Devices and Circuit Theory .In this lab students get knowledge about the semiconductor devices, its behaviors, characteristics and applications. Electronics Measurement and Instrumentation Lab:- EMI lab is intended for Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation course. This lab includes measuring instruments and transducers. In this lab students measure the pressure, temperature, force, displacement, light and load in terms of electrical voltage or current using transducers. Transducer is a device which converts Physical quantity into Electrical quantity. This lab includes following kits: Thermistor Kit, Thermo Couple Temperature Transducer Kit, Load Cell, Strain Gauge, Pressure Cell, LCR Bridge, Ultrasonic Transducer, Light Measurement Kit, Maxwell Bridge, Anderson Bridge, Capacitance Bridge, LVDT Kit, RTD Kit etc. PCB Lab:- This lab deals with designing of circuits along with the virtual PCBs on simulation tools like Express PCB, Proteus etc and thereafter manufacturing of PCBs. For this purpose Crucible, UV machine, Dipcoat machine, Developer & Die machine, Etching machine, Art workbench table, Negative developer machine, Drill machine are used in this lab. This lab helps final year students in nurturing their knowledge in academic projects. Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab:- The lab deals with programming of microprocessor over simulator kits. This lab has 8085 microprocessor kits which are to be programmed by students. SP Lab:- Electronics and communication department provides SP lab. This lab is used in SP and DSP course for the students of Pre Final and Final Year B.Tech E&C Stream. In this lab students get knowledge about the Signal processing, Digital Filter Design, Sampling, DFT, Convolution and FFT Algorithm using DSP processor kit. Mat lab is main tool for simulation in this lab. VLSI Lab:- VLSI is related to silicon chip/integrated circuits and The lab has two major instruments one is FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array)and the other is CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Devices). Both are generally used for field work so that any VHDL code can be downloaded into these programmable devices and then these can be used as hardware devices and the code can be validated by confirming the proper functioning of that hardware . Antenna Lab:- Antenna lab is used in antenna and wave propagation system course for the students of final year of B.Tech E& C streams. This lab is one of the most important labs of communication engineering .This lab deals with all kinds of antenna .In this lab students perform practical for the antenna characteristics and its various properties. This lab has more than 10 different kinds of antennas which are micro strip, loop, helical, horn, strip and log periodic antennas. This lab is also called wireless communication lab. Microwave Lab:- This lab deals with different microwave components .In this lab students get knowledge about microwave components, microwave amplifiers, microwave oscillators and microwave power source which are klystron, magnetron, etc. The laboratory has good microwave bench to train students in the field of microwave engineering. Apart from other equipments, Gunn-oscillators & Klystron-oscillators are available for practicals. Electronic Workshop :- This lab is used in basic Electronics, Digital Electronics and Linear Integrated Circuit courses for the students of IIndand IIIrd year .In this workshop students get the knowledge about all the coming and existing technologies in the market. The main motive of workshop lab is to keep the students update and familiar with the technologies. Students make their projects in this lab.
